In September 2022, I had the honor of leading the organization of the Africa Data-Communications Retreat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together numerous UN communicators from all over Africa. Our aim was to synergize efforts between data experts and communication specialists, ensuring the narratives of SDGs in Africa were compelling and data-driven.

Over four days, we delved into the nuances of communications strategies, crisis communications, and the dynamics of UN Communications Groups. With an emphasis on “solutions journalism,” we left equipped to translate statistics into impactful stories that inspire action, setting a powerful blueprint for future efforts in the continent.
