At the eighth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Kigali, Rwanda, the pressing need to revitalize the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa resonated deeply with me. Amidst challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, digital disparities, and climate crisis, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, highlighted “huge opportunities” ahead. Through collaboration, leveraging the UN's vast resources and expertise, and the commitment of Resident Coordinators across the continent, there's hope for steering Africa towards achieving its goals. As my stay concluded, I took a moment to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a somber reminder of the importance of peace, unity, and progress.
