Japan Expo in Paris
Upon my recent return to Paris, I chanced upon the “Japan Expo.” Drawn to the celebration of Japanese culture, I stepped inside, only to be greeted by a wave of green-checkered haoris, the unmistakable mark of "Demon Slayer's" Tanjiro Kamado.
But that wasn’t the only thing that made me chuckle. Someone mentioned "breaking the outer walls of Shiganshina District," and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. For the uninitiated, it's a nod to another famous anime, "Attack on Titan." Trust me, it's funnier if you know the context!
The deeper I went, the more I felt like the "Japan Expo" was slightly misnamed. It felt more like a "Cosplay Convention" – not that I was complaining! The beautiful thing was seeing the French community come together with such passion for Japanese pop culture.
However, amidst the excitement, there was a gentle touch of nostalgia. It was the 50th anniversary of "Black Jack," the legendary manga. It was an emotional moment, a gentle reminder of the depth and range of Japanese art and storytelling.
