Fashion in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso, situated in West Africa, holds a significant position as a leading cotton producer. This naturally extends to the country's local fashion and design scene.

On a visit to the capital, Ouagadougou, I chanced upon a store that showcased this relationship between material and craft. Owned by Sébastien Bazemo, the store offered garments that were not only of high quality but also embodied the local aesthetic. Such craftsmanship deserves global recognition, and I hope to see it in Japan in the near future.

Aside from fashion, Ouagadougou's markets offered a variety of souvenirs. A simple tablecloth and a traditional mask were among my purchases. Each store provides a small window into the culture and traditions of Burkina Faso.
